We are moving house soon and Dh mentioned that he will be buying a Makita multi tool to do some work i haven't got a clue what to buy but he is very difficult to buy gifts for so I want to get it for Christmas, easy for once! Can anyone please advise which one to get please.
Thanks for any advice.

Does it need to be cordless, if so you would need a battery and a charger too. My husband has a cordless one and says its excellent.

Finally! My time to shine!

Does he have any other Makita cordless tools?

If he does, are they 18v or 12v?

You’ll then need to just buy the bare tool, which you can from Amazon, screwfix, toolstation, B&Q etc etc etc Buy-A-Parcel on eBay usually have a lot of deals on (all brand new tools).

If he doesn’t already have batteries, you’ll need to get at least 1 battery and a charger.

You’ll ALSO need to get some blades. They can be fairly cover it all general use ones, there are also wood/metal/plastic etc specific. You can also buy packs with a range of them all.

A handy one to get too (usually in the multi packs) is the sanding attachment and sandpaper pads.

Let me know if you need any more tool nerdery

Has he any other Makita or Dewalt tools?

Cordless every time!!

As said find out what voltage the batteries are, and get the bare tool, 12v is old now though.

But if he hasn't consider drill/impact driver combo kit, whish comes with 2 batteries - you need 4amp as a min for a MT, then buy the bare multi tool unit.

2 batteries and a charger is around £130... a combo kit is approx £200 to 250, more but then you get a lot of extra tools & the batteries etc.

that’s on eBay with 20% off. It’s also the keyless tool change model, which saves faffing with an Allen key to change blades.

@Randmsdad I found the seller before you posted your recommendation and got carried away and bought this one!
Is it ok?
