Advice non working gas fire

moved into a house with an open gas fire, landlord has it capped so we cannot use it, is there anything I can do to make it look good? I’d like something there not necessarily heat but like a flame effect? Any ideas?

Is the gas fire still there or has it been removed? Can you have it removed? We had a similar situation and took out the gas fire put up a fire place and mantle and had these candles n the hearth where the fire would have gone. It actually looked really nice.

Thank you, it’s there and no it won’t be removed unfortunately. It’s just annoying it’s there and can’t use it.

Ah that’s annoying. Could you upload a photo so mners better than me could give you some ideas? And maybe move this to property & diy where you might get more responses
