Ripped fingernail hell

I have very frail / soft nails at the best of times. I’ve somehow managed to tear a nail about 1/3 way down the nail bed, about 1/3 of the way across, so I can’t do anything, if it’s catching and it’s sore. Does anyone have any ideas how to secure it so it doesn’t rip off completely?
doesn't help I have psoriasis so my nails are often separating from the nail bed … ug … so sore and horrible!
thanks

Most unpleasant!
Put some superglue on it, reapply when it washes/wears off probably daily.
Otherwise cover in surgical tape (again you will keep having to reapply) until it grows to a reasonable length.

Trim the nail back as short as possible then if you have some medical tape such as micropore cut a tiny square to cover over the rip ,paint clear nailvarnish over the tape ,you could put on more than one layer .
Keep doing this until the rip starts to grow out and you can trim again.

Layer of clear polish. Tiny bit of teabag across nail. Another couple of layers of polish on top. You'll have to redo it every few days and still be careful still.

Amazon sell nail repair patches that work quite well

Cut a piece of plaster that covers the split and further , coat with two coats of nail varnish so it blends in , lighter colours work best . Can you tell I have long nails and do a lot of gardening! Superglue also works as long as the split isn’t already too gappy .

Thank you all, that’s brilliant, I’ll put my theatre greens on tomorrow and get operating! Thank you 🤩

I shut my finger in a door several weeks ago. It's grown two thirds of the way down and the nail has started to lift off at one side. It sounds very similar to your problem. I've taped it up with Hypafix tape. It stays on through hand washing for most of a day and I replace it most mornings. Today's tape is looking tatty as it's survived all day, including a yoga class and the making of a chicken curry. It may not look the most stylish or alluring but it works and stops the nail getting caught.
