Would you expect to pay for your own drinks?

Nice venue, good live band, decent buffet all (obviously) paid by the host. In your world does the host also pay for all drinks, a first drink for everyone, drinks up to a certain limit or do guests just pay for themselves?

If it makes a difference birthday boy (60th) has said absolutely no guests please.

I suspect answers will be dependent on social class or regional so fwiw most guests will either be skilled and fairly affluent working class or lower middle class.

I don't understand this OP.. Do you mean the guy whose birthday it is doesn't even want a party?

I absolutely would not expect an open bar. A welcome drink might be nice as you arrive though.

In my social circle you’d usually buy the person their first drink as the host

Sorry, I'd like to blame auto correct but suspect that was all me. Absolutely no presents...

If you organised a party for me when I’d said no guests I’d be furious. DH will attest to this - he has learned from experience.
