Kirsty Gallacher was “kicked like a football “ when she was walking to her car on Tuesday evening

Horrible 🙄another fucking man randomly attacking a woman for personal gratification.

I don't see how one can possibly do anything to 'stay safe' from a random unprovoked act of violence by a stranger?

Mitochondriapowerhouse · 30/10/2025 13:46

Thanks for posting a link @Noodledog

Maybe I should have posted on feminist board @DiscoBob As @Noodledog said another attack on a woman by a man for personal gratification

That is absolutely shocking! To be honest at this rate we’ll be scared to go out in the dark. I really hope they find out who it was.

Mitochondriapowerhouse · 30/10/2025 14:16

@Ereshkigalangcleg thank you for previous thread link. I shall have a read of that.
@SleepQuest33 that’s exactly how I’m feeling, a couple of years ago I’d happily walk into town to meet my friends but now I feel more wary as there’s now groups of men hanging about and a general feeling of hostility. I definitely feel more vulnerable where as I used to feel pretty carefree when I was out socialising in the evening. I just know if there were no men I wouldn’t be feeling this way

I get that and it's horrific. But how does a woman 'stay safe' from such things? Never leave the house? Statistically she's more likely to be punched there than in the street though. So just...pretend to be a man?!

Summerhillsquare · 30/10/2025 17:50

It's appalling. But I won't stay in the house, that's what they want. Apart from anything else I live on my own and would never see anyone.

Mitochondriapowerhouse · 30/10/2025 18:22

@Summerhillsquare i agree although there’s places I won’t walk now, especially in winter

Given that carrying something to use for self defence is illegal in the UK, I would like to share my personal solution- a bottle of wine in a shopping bag. Nice and heavy, good for shoving in a attacking man's groin when broken. Not something you can be accused of carrying to use as a weapon.

Obviously, in a lot of situations it won't help, but I find it reassuring to have with me after dark.
