Carpark intimidation

I just had an encounter with a horrible man in a supermarket car park and I just don't understand why anyone behaves like this.
For context I was driving into the car park where there is a mini roundabout. I was going straight ahead, he was approaching from the left and just carried on driving when he should have given way to me. I gave a little toot as wasn't sure he'd seen me. He did stopped then but I could see him shouting. He then followed me, pulled up next to me and started shouting I should wind down the window. I didn't as I had the kids in the car, he then open his car door and hits mine. I got out to check for damage but he carried on he is shouting saying it was my fault as I didn't indicate (I didn't need to indicate until actually exiting the roundabout as I was going straight ahead). I got back in the car to drive off as felt very intimated but took a quick photo of his number plate just in case him opening his car door had caused damage (its just a small dent). He then comes running back up shouting 'You take photos of my car I'll take photos of you'. I just drove off.
Now I'm home I'm quite shaken. Why act like that? He was in the wrong and I'm certain if I'd been a man he wouldn't have behaved in that way.
It's really put me off going to my local supermarket in case I run into him again.

Utter cunt. That would’ve shaken me up. ❤️

Report him to the police and your insurer. He was completely out of order.

Sounds awful. There is a lot of road rage about at the moment! People seem very angry! I had somebody cut me up earlier today, I didn't toot or raise my hand other than say to myself "bloody hell" as it was a bit close and they break check me twice, and I saw them gesticulating for ages afterwards!

chunkyBoo · 29/10/2025 16:30

Bastard! I’d report him for road rage and see if there was cctv

Slidershow · 29/10/2025 16:33

Thanks guys. Maybe I shouldn't have tooted but I did it to say 'just so you know I'm here' rather being aggressive.
I doubt the police would do anything and the dent is small and not worth getting insurance involved. But my strong sense of justice is very frustrated that he felt entitled to behave that way.
I just don't understand that sort of rage, of all the things to get cross about!
I'm feeling less shaky now and can only hope that the supermarket were sold out of everything he wanted to buy 😂

He behaves like that because he's a stupid arsehole. He might well not have done it to another man though.

Report him to the police for his intimidation and harassment. You have his registration number so use it. He's relying on you not doing so, so do it. Call them on 101.

BCBird · 29/10/2025 16:37

I hear you OP. He would not have done this to a man- asshole

LoveSandbanks · 29/10/2025 16:41

Oh, there’s a dent! Fuck that, I’d charge him with criminal damage. Essentially it’s road rage which the police take quite seriously.

Yes to this too.

Poor you, @Slidershow ! That must have been terrifying, especially with kids in the car. What an absolute prick.
A friend of mine had a similar experience—tooted someone who cut her up, the guy followed her and got out of his car to shout abuse. She did the same as you, didn’t engage and got away safely, but this should not be happening to anyone!
Just yesterday, DH had a man tailgating him aggressively after he over took them. DH pulled over to let them past and thankfully the dickhead drove off and didn’t stop and get out of his car, but DH was
still shaken up by it.
I’m just getting more and more scared of driving the older I get. Why are people so angry?

Whatshesaid96 · 29/10/2025 17:26

I've heard similar from one of my kids teachers. I park in the same car park when I take my kids swimming. She's now started asking her husband to come along when she has to go there.

Sad in 2025 that men think its acceptable to shout a woman down making them vulnerable when children are in the car.

HappyAsASandboy · 29/10/2025 18:52

And then they wonder why we don’t want to date them …

I totally get that not all men are like this, but if a lion bit you then you’d be wary of the next lion you came across.

You did nothing wrong, and I am 99.9% certain he wouldn’t have come after you and dented your door if you’d been a man.

Report in to the police and your insurance company and then don’t give him any more of your brain space.
