Autumn/Winter - would you rather …

it was cold and dry or warmer and wet?

Am on the sofa on Day 7 of covid (my first time having it). Am watching the rain lash down out there, it’s grey and miserable. Have been having some work done in the garden so it’s a bit of a mess out there and is now starting to resemble a mud bath.

I would much prefer the two seasons were mainly cold and dry. Can always add layers to warm up, but I can’t stand the rain (wouldn’t mind it raining overnight though, I know it’s needed for crops, reservoirs etc).

I think, now the clocks have gone back, I’m just not looking forward to the rubbish months. So my order would definitely be cold and dry with a side-helping of showers overnight.

This morning was definitely the coldest it’s been all year but the sun was out and everything was Beautiful so I’d say definitely cold and dry!! Hope you feel better soon

Cold and dry i suppose

But I mean, my real answer is freezing and wet

The sky today is lovely and grey, i'm having a great time 🤭🤭

(Sorry you have covid, its a nasty strain this year x)

I'm with you OP, cold and dry is the way I like it.
I find the house stays warmer when the air is dry rather than damp.
As you say you can always layer clothing, and it's easier to get out and about when it's dry.
Dry weather can also invite the sun which is always a mood booster, as it sends it's warmth streaming through the windows.
Besides that I've always hated having wet feet!
Hope you're feeling better very soon @Ijwwm

Cold and wet. Love it

Santasbigredbobblehat · 29/10/2025 14:57

Alternating.
Wet is cosy then have a day of cold sun.

Cold and dry overall though as I work in early years

pinkviolets · 29/10/2025 14:57

Colder and dry!

RaininSummer · 29/10/2025 14:59

Cold and dry for sure. Nothing worse than soggy wind battered walk to work.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 29/10/2025 15:27

Cold and dry.

I’m genuinely stunned there are people who prefer wet, freezing weather, I can’t bear it. I have a very visceral reaction to being out in that kind of weather - it actually makes me angry, and all I can focus on is getting indoors.

sueelleker · 29/10/2025 15:52

Cold and dry. I love sunny, frosty winter days.

Welcome to all the cold and dry crew. And hi to the couple of hard as nails freezing and wet fruit loops 😂.

I should have added that my order definitely doesn’t include wind - windy days make me irrationally irritable, especially when weeding or trying to clear leaves.

Thanks for the well wishes. This is the roughest I’ve felt in a long time and, oh my god, the cough. My cats have been keeping me company on the sofa, but I think even they’re fed up of my coughing!
