What did you enjoy as a child?
All my adult hobbies/interests are pretty much the same thing.

Bbq1 · 28/10/2025 13:55

Jigsaws, reading, writing, colouring, Calligraphy crafting (candles and other easy crafts), listening to Audio books and occasional podcasts. What do you enjoy doing, Op?

Well I have just found reformer Pilates. Is that a hobby? I bloody love it! Currently selling a kidney on vinted to pay for it if anyone's interested

Dog walking (speaks for itself).

Soap making (I own my own business so it's both work and a hobby as I enjoy it).

Gym.

Learning a language (currently on Georgian).

Ruining my husbands life. 😁

Mine are:

Reading. I always have a book on the go and read every night before bed without fail. I try to set myself a reading related challenge every so often to read a certain number of books a year, or read books from genres I wouldn't normally choose. I'm currently reading a book about walking the Camino in Spain.

Walking/Podcast combo. I can't say I'm a massive fan of walking but it's good for me and I always feel better for doing it. I've been working my way through some really good podcasts that are an hour long per episode so if I put my earbuds in and head out of the door and walk for one episode I've done an hour's walk and a few miles without even really thinking about it.

Yoga. I used to do it at home but I now go to a weekly class and it has been great for both my mind and body.

Puzzles. I will buy myself a puzzle magazine every month and work my way through it when I have any spare time.

I also enter online competitions as a hobby. It stops me from mindlessly scrolling and I've won a few things from doing it.

Rock choir
Adult ballet class
Houseplants

Reading

I'm currently writing a book - after about two years it's not even halfway yet.

What do you enjoy? Are you an active person? Or creative? Are you really tight for space? Is money tight? All of these things impact on what will work for you.

I’m a crafter. I’ll do anything except crochet which is clearly the work of the Devil and impossible to master unless you have 27 fingers and an ability to understand things that make no rational sense. So I do knitting, sewing, quilting, decoupage, paper cutting, glass engraving, pyrography, tiling coasters and wooden trays, cross stitch, embroidery, painting miniatures etc. And sudoku and reading when I can get some quiet. I write stories for my nephew. And I also collect craft supplies which is a whole other hobby.

I don’t do resin because I’m restricted on space and have respiratory stuff going on already without adding to it, and I don’t make cards or candles as I don’t really love it. But anything else I’ll give it a whirl.

Horses. Both riding and volunteering with them. Beware though, the yard is a mysterious place, not unlike a black hole, where time passes differently and that hour you intended to be there for quickly becomes 3.

PearlClutzsche · 28/10/2025 15:51

Try to get a good balance between active and more sedentary hobbies. I'm a lot older than you, but currently I:

Knit and crochet, lots! Always do it in front of the telly.
Gym 4-5 times per week
Walking with podcasts or audio books,
Growing vegetables
Cycling
Have signed up for drawing class in January

Crafts, crafts and more crafts!

My favourite is making micro miniatures. That's 1:144th scale, plus scenes in nut shells - acorns, pistachio and walnut mainly.

It's a lot of fun!
