Do your friends and family covet your capacious crisper drawers?

If they do then please tell me what brand and model you have.

Current fridge freezer on its last legs so have just been for a mooch at Curry’s. What’s with all the piddly little crisper drawers?

Dont even get me started on crisper drawers that have been sacrificed at the alter of the fresh hell that is a snack drawer.

I want huge, big drawers please, and photos of them if you care to share.

What’s a crisper drawer? Is it the same as the veg hospice?

ShadesmarBead · 28/10/2025 13:04

Yes like a veg hospice but mine is full of vibrant and vital green things, such is the current hugeness of my drawer.

I’d buy another one (Fisher and Paykel) but they’re too £££ and à right bugger to repair.

My fridge freezer is a bog standard hotpoint but the drawers are a decent size

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 28/10/2025 13:13

I was going to say Fisher and paykal!

Had one in an old house and loved it. I used to pull out the drawer and admire my collection of fruit and veg.

Fridge freezers are really not great at the moment - I’ve been looking for one to replace my ancient Samsung (10/10, would recommend) but there’s nothing I like.

It’s not the crisper drawer that’s the problem for me; it’s that most of the decent ones have too much fridge and not enough freezer.

I had to google and still unsure - do you mean the two or maybe one large plastic clear drawer at the bottom of the fridge part of a fridge/freezer? Mine is 20odd years old so theres two, one is for veg like carrots, kale, onions and the like, the other is filled with jars of pickles and things. I have never been sure what they are for but basically whatever goes in there usually ends up dying there unless i see it and use it asap.

Honestly, when we bought our new fridge freezer about 2 years ago, and I was reading all the bumpf about how it keeps fruit and veg fresh for longer blah blah blah, I thought it was a load of bollocks.

I have totally changed my tune and now regularly advise friends to buy such a thing!

Mine is a Samsung and honestly, veg last at least twice as long as they used to now!!!!

JadziaD · 28/10/2025 13:24

turns out it was 4 years ago so John Lewis won't provide me with a link to the actual one it is. But it is life changing.

It has one full width drawer for veggies. Then two smaller drawers you can have as one or as two - I keep meat in one and fruit in the other.

I read that as "crisp drawer" and thought, yes, they probably do! I have an array of savoury snacks to rival the final aisle in B&M. At one stage I had 56 tubs of Pringles in stock. Salad crisper drawers - mine are also huge. We get through 4 full size cucumbers a week. Yes, this is an unhumble brag.

I have an integrated fridge that is all fridge . I like to have a lot of veg and I also end up with lots of Tupperware type stuff too. The drawers are pretty huge with temperature options to keep sealed shut , halve open with sliding vents .

Freezer is small one in utility room . It is Leiberheich ? old model and bet they are expensive now .

I went through more than that at the weekend. I have one child who is a cucumber fiend. Also not a brag, he is a pain in the arse with every other food but will walk around chomping on a cucumber like most kids an ice cream. I would say he has one a day as of late. I cant even complain cos they are good for him.

I officially have fridge envy.

This was something I wanted when we got a new fridge freezer a couple of years ago. I don't know if cauliflowers had got bigger since we bought the previous fridge or we'd started eating more veg, but we'd outgrown the old drawers and we eat hardly any fruit and veg by MN standards.

We settled on an LG one that I think is about 2/3 fridge and 1/3 freezer, is quite tall and has two massive veg drawers the second on is full of booze
