Mine is having to come up with meal ideas, I hate it! Having to think of what to eat/cook every single day until you die 😂

Endless kitchen cleaning. My mind is so calm and clear when the kitchen is clean and tidy but getting it to that point every day drains me. Endless fucking emptying the dishwasher

Nobumsonthetable · 27/10/2025 20:57

Fucking dinner. I wish I could just give everyone a pill at 6pm.
that and money worries. Ugh.

MsSmartShoes · 27/10/2025 20:59

The stress, anxiety, responsibility, burdens, fears, the grind etc etc.

JudgeBread · 27/10/2025 21:00

Dealing with my parents suddenly becoming old when I swear they were 40 something's yesterday.

  1. The expectation that I MUST be desperate to be in a relationship. Oh, and the pressure to be. Actually, I really like being single, and I'm happy like that!

  2. Being seen as a woman who cannot manage all by herself. I may be small and slim, but I'm surprisingly mighty! Oh, and while we're at it, people (usually older men) who stare at me to make sure that I don't scratch their precious cars while parking mine. I can drive tractors and JCBs, so parking my tiny car will not be a problem!

  3. Attempting to balance working, cooking healthy meals, doing the housework and the decorating, keeping on top of finances, and trying to squeeze in appointments and the occasional fun and interesting thing on my days off!

  4. The disappointment that adulthood did not live up to the expectations that I had of it when I was at school. I thought, "How wonderful it must be to spend the rest of your life doing whatever you want!" Unfortunately, working for a living takes up far too much of my time!

TeenLifeMum · 27/10/2025 21:31

The admin. Someone hit my car and I’m pissed off because now I have to sort insurance, get car to garage etc it’s just hassle. Then, train was cancelled. Can’t get refund in the app so have to faff about. I think it’s the admin that is caused by other people rather than myself that annoys me most.

EveryDayisFriday · 27/10/2025 21:35

The constant responsibilities. Having to be a good employee, daughter to aging parents, parent, housekeeper (inc cleaner/ cook/ family organiser), wife. It NEVER ends..

TeeBee · 27/10/2025 21:37

The financial responsibility.

Mine is thinking of what to eat too.

We recently spent 3 weeks in a country where good food is readily available to eat out or get delivered very cheaply. (not fast food, great freshly cooked meals delivered in 20 minutes). My DD lives there and rarely cooks.

The absolute bliss of not having to think about much other than where to go/what to order was absolute bliss.

I guess there's still an element of decision making but you are making it there and then when you know exactly how hungry you are and what you fancy, rather than planning for a week's meals then not really wanting what you had planned!

Where is this place??? I need to emigrate there!

This with bells on!! It drives me crazy, pretty much every single day!!
Having to work every day is a very close 2nd for me 🙃

JohnBullshit · 27/10/2025 21:47

Things going wrong, and all the stress, time and expense of getting them back to the way they were. Like, you've gone through all that, and where are you? Exactly where you were this time last week. Not serious life-changing stuff, but repairs, accidents, fuck-ups that should have been avoided. Can't someone older and more responsible sort it out?

MrsPositivity1 · 27/10/2025 21:48

Making dinner every bloody day

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 27/10/2025 21:53

when things break or I need to get a tradesperson in, I find the whole thing painful.

Alignedplanks98 · 27/10/2025 21:59

My dc are young adults now but it used to be:

  • the school run (hated being tied down to it twice a day for over a decade!)
  • when they were ill
  • dh travelling endlessly
  • worst of all… when they were ill at the same time as dh was travelling endlessly 😬
HarryVanderspeigle · 27/10/2025 22:02

When you are ill, there is no mum to look after you.

Cleaning the bathroom, just absolutely hate it.

I devote 10 mins every morning to cleaning one element of the bathroom because it’s my worst cleaning job too! Makes it less hideous!

Same. Closely followed by washing.

The never ending admin to-do list. Insurance, MOT, dentist, vet, order dog food, write shopping list, 15 layers of security to buy a replacement mop, download another bloody app so I can park and actually do some of the stuff that requires all the admin...

This… it’s often sends me into an existential crisis (currently in an extended one)! It all just seems so bloody futile …

Rainbows41 · 27/10/2025 22:12

Not living at home with my parents, with no responsibilities, bills or chores to do.
Realising we are all aging fast.

I love the idea of giving everyone a quick pill at 6pm. I have - 1 x vegetarian, 1 x doesn't eat red meat, 1 x autistic (cheese and tomato based meals only, with a choice of 3 tolerated vegetables), 1 x fine with everything. I love them, but thinking about catering for them all when they're home at Christmas is already bringing me out in hives.

Leaving the obvious bits about losing people aside, for me it's being the one who can't run away screaming if there's a.spider in the house, leaving it for someone else to deal with. I just absolutely can't and there is always a panic while I try to get a sympathetic neighbour who can help.

HangingOver · 27/10/2025 22:26

Brushing my teeth EVERY FUCKING DAY TWICE A DAY TIL I'M DEAD I haaaaaaaaate it

Spent too long trying to find a lightbulb in the shops this afternoon Our Homebase has closed and couldn’t bear to drive across town to B&Q in half term traffic Tried a supermarket but no bayonets. Good old Amazon will deliver to me tomorrow.
I enjoy cooking which is lucky. DH will eat whatever I make and be grateful. DD21 on the other hand will waltz in and find some fault though will always eat it. I ignore because I know what she has ahead of her. One day she’ll appreciate what she had!
