Dubai hotels for 2 night stopover

We’re stopping in Dubai on our way to the U.K. from Aus and we have 2 nights, 1 full day and one half day. There are a gazillion hotel choices and so I need help! We are a family of 4 with two teen boys who are adult size so we need either 2 rooms or two proper beds (not sofa bed).

It’s going to be boiling (June) so I think our plan is either a water park, hang out by the pool etc. Are there any must dos that we could do when it’s that hot? I’d love to go to typically Middle Eastern place but I’m happy to just hide from the heat if that’s the best plan.

Do we want to be near the Palm, or downtown?

Any recommendations would be great. Don’t want to spend a fortune, but somewhere in the Hilton/Sofitel region (£250 per night?)

Thank you!

We've just come back from Dubai and stayed in the Hilton on the Palm. Traffic is crazy and stuff is really spread out so I'm not sure there's an optimum place to stay in terms of getting to and from places.

If you're only there for a day and half I'd just stay in your hotel and enjoy it to be honest - there's not enough time for anything else. The Atlantis has the Aquaventure water park on site but is a pricey hotel so may be out of your budget.

There are plenty of hotels up and down the Palm and a taxi to get to the Atlantis (which is at the top of the crescent on the Palm) wouldn't cost much at all - probably a fiver each way.

Thank you! There are things I would see there if it was winter but my husband was there last October and he said even then it was unbearably sweltering (and keep in mind we live in Sydney so we’re not unused to warm weather!) and he ended up just going in the pool and going for a wander in the evening.

I just spent 2 nights at The Sofitel Obelisk it’s in the old bit of the city so quite away from Jumeriah Beach area. We had a club access room which meant you had your own lounge for breakfast and snacks and 2 hours of free canapés and cocktails in the evening. It was great. The pool was decent and you can hire a cabana for the day with its own hot tub but the water is lovely and cool.

I like the idea of being in the old part of the city (tbh I didn’t even realise there was an old part)

We went to the gold souk but missed out on exploring the old city which is a bit further down the creek. That’s probably a nice idea if you can find a decent hotel in that area which im sure you can

Grand Hyatt city centre. Close to airport and has free shuttle to Dubai mall and kite beach. I wouldn’t bother going to the palm if you’re just there for two nights- do hotel pool, maybe early morning or evening at the beach, and mall for the fountain show and to see burj khalifa.
