Tips for holiday near Dunoon

We’re staying in a lodge in Scotland from this weekend for a few nights for half term. Lodge is located close to Dunoon, and I’m hoping we can get some tips of things to see or do in the area? Our lodge is right next to Pucks Glen but it’s closed due to storm damage which I’m gutted about!

We have 11yo dd and dog with us. We’re going to drive up to Oban one day to visit family but apart from that no plans. Happy to drive a bit or stay local!

We stayed at Toward Point (south of Dunoon jntil
tou can’t go any further) some years ago, Oban was a nice day out, and we also went to Wemyss Bay and Largs - not a huge amount to do, iirc, but a nice drive, both pleasant places to have a little mooch, lovely views across the Forth of Clyde, and excellent ice cream at Nardini’s in Largs.

Benmore Gardens is nearby and nice for a walk if the weather permits. Inveraray Castle is about 45 mins and is interesting. The town of Inveraray nice for a wander and some nice shops. Loch Fyne good for lunch. If you go to Largs then Kilbirnie has a fort / walk that tweens like. You could even take the ferry and go shopping in Braehead or to Glasgow. Good museums also in Glasgow - science, transport, Kelvingrove.

Go and see Loch Eck. Much prettier than Loch Lomond.
