Hi long time user first time poster.
Id like to ask you all what was the one thing you did when you left an awful relationship.
Weather it big or small.
I was in a 10 year slug awful awful relationship with a awful man who done awful unspeakable things to me.
I was never allowed to do anything unless it was him that wanted it because my ideas was crap or just stupit.
Just awful.
With the help of womens aid and a lot of therapy im now 10 year on in life.

Anyway ive always wanted to go to the south of france buy a croissant and a coffee and just sit somewhere and buy a fridge magnet. (I know im sad lol)
Well last week my passport came through and im going to book it for a weekend for feb 2026.

I still feel a bit wooohh knowing i was not even allowed to say the word passport.
Even though hes dead now and its a decade on and im free im still a bit scared.

What was your one thing or more did you do?

I don’t think that sounds sad at all, I think that sounds bloody wonderful! Don’t call yourself sad for doing that. 💐

Well done! Me. stranger on the internet is disproportionately happy for you. May this be the beginning of you making decisions for yourself based on your happiness.

I sing my heart out all the time now. Especially in the car. He hated that.

Little victories.

Myfridgeiscool · 21/10/2025 22:06

That sounds spot on OP!
I've had a few bottles of champagne over the years, mostly relief rather than celebration.

I always wanted an old house filled with books, cats and classical music (sad too). I now have that and met a man who wanted it too!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 21/10/2025 22:09

Laughed out loud without being shushed.

Aww good on you OP! That’s such a lovely post to read. The south of France is stunning. You could fly to Nice and stay there. It’s a lovely city with a beach, and take a train to Monte Carlo for the day, the train goes all along the coast and is so pretty. The world really is your oyster. I hope you are really proud of yourself xx

Go where I want, when I want and talk to a member of the opposite sex without an argument/beating afterwards. That's what I'm happiest about😊 oh and the fact that he's dead cheered me up no end😂

Just the simple fact of living without being criticised over minor things. Enjoying days out again as he would totally ruin every single one. Getting back to trusting myself again. Small things but amazing how free that feeling is of not walking on eggshells.
