Have someone you really admired/looked up to ever give you the ‘ick’?

Lighthearted!

I have really admired someone in my field of world, she’s an academic and has had lots of research published. I’m doing a PhD in this area now and messaged her in relation to this. We’ve exchanged a few messages back and she always ends the message saying “Thank Q” I’m assuming as a slang if thank you? Anyway it’s really made me re think my admiration 😂

has this ever happened anyone else?

I worked for a charming man years ago. He was clever, fairly handsome although not drop dead gorgeous by any means and just a thoroughly nice man. He was married, a father, well educated, good family etc. Anyway I found out he shagged the local slapper who also intermittently worked at the same organisation.

I think it was only 2-3 times but it really put me off him. I saw him in a completely different light. She was like something out of Shameless - loud, gobby, immoral. Admittedly she was good fun and it was 20 years ago, but I saw him recently and it still put me off him.

Paul Martin the tv antiques guy. Used to really fancy him until I saw him on Richard Osman's House of Games and realised he is as thick as pigshit.

I really admired one of my teachers from primary school (as only a 10 year old girl really can) and when I was in my 20s he sent me a Facebook friend request. I was thrilled to get in touch, planned to ask him for coffee etc to chat as he made such a difference to my life - he turned out to be an absolute creep, so many inappropriate things posted, comments on young girls' photos etc. He got blocked very very quickly, and my childhood memory of him was tainted. He was very good at putting on his professional persona though!
