Chances I caught covid off DH?

DH started feeling unwell six days ago. We've been sleeping apart and sitting opposite ends of lounge as we're going on holiday tomorrow and trying to avoid me being ill (he's been really rough for five days).

Been feeling a bit headachy, tired and had a scratchy throat for a couple of days, but nothing has come of it. However, flying first thing tomorrow so have taken a covid trst and it's positive.

I only worked yesterday, and have been to a couple of exercise classes, so not been near many. Just wondering if others think it's reasonable I got it from DH?

You probably did, even if you were trying to stay separate in the lounge, you were still in the same room, and it is a highly airborne virus. Are you going on holiday still?

SwirlyWhirls · 20/10/2025 20:26

Probably

Why would sitting at opposite ends of a room stop you getting sick? lol.

I'd say it's highly likely to be DH, but why does it matter and why did you test?

Overthebow · 20/10/2025 20:28

Yes you probably caught it from DH, but does it really matter where you caught it from, you’ve got Covid and that’s that.

Overthebow · 20/10/2025 20:29

And yes sitting at opposite ends of the lounge won’t stop you catching it as you’re indoors in the same room.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/10/2025 20:31

Of course! But it doesn't matter.

176509user · 20/10/2025 20:33

You do realise Covid is a highly contagious AIRBORNE virus ?
So how will you being at the other end of the same room as DH prevent you from getting it ?
Yes you probably did get it from him but possibly you could have got it while out and about too.
It could be that he has flu and you have COVID even !

Sunnyside4 · 20/10/2025 20:35

Lounge has an extension so we're probably 4m apart.

Just thinking I'll have to tell him and don't want him worrying he'll be ill again or I'll get worse. We were going to wear masks on the plane anyway, looks like I better take a few!

You shouldn’t travel.

Firealarm1414 · 20/10/2025 20:41

Canceling a holiday because of covid is madness in 2025. Absolutely no need. If you feel well enough, then go.

Brightbluesomething · 20/10/2025 20:48

Wow, you caught Covid sitting 4m apart in the same room (which was always going to be the case). So you’re planning to sit on a plane much closer to strangers with a mask (that gives virtually no protection) and choose to infect everyone in breathing distance.
Glad I’m not on that plane.

Please don't travel with COVID.

Why are you asking? It's pretty obvious but what is the relevance, it's done now

DrearyDiary · 20/10/2025 21:07

Everyone saying dont travel.....are you reimbursing OP because neither the airline or her travel insurance will.? They think it's fine to fly and so does every authority.

Exactly this… who is really going to cancel their holiday and lose out on the money they’ve paid for it?

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 20/10/2025 21:30

It’s probable. I bet you’re touching the same door handles etc. hopefully you’re not too sick. Wear a mask. It’s not ideal with any cold or flu but that’s life and you’d be unreasonable to cancel in 2025.

Where are you going to OP?
