What is Prague like?

I went to Budapest with DMum in the summer and absolutely loved it. Such a lovely city. Had a great time with the good food, a (few) drinks and loved the history and culture.

I am thinking about going to Prague next year. Would anyone be able to give recommendations? In my mind it's similar to Budapest?

Prague is great. Beautiful, beer cheaper than soft drinks, a nice weekend. I probably wouldn't need longer than a weekend. But flights are typically cheap so what's to lose?!

We went for a long weekend a few Decembers ago, it was beautiful, the Christmas market was great, good food, interesting history etc
ive never been to Budapest so can't compare but I'd definitely go back

It's fairly small in comparison with a lot of capital cities. The historic centre is pretty much comprised of Old Town Square, Charles Bridge and the Castle District. Which are all very pretty, but I found them extremely crowded when we went one Easter. More so than larger cities like Paris, London or Budapest, where the crowds are able to spread out more.

My Budapest trip was for a whole week. I loved it. I like going to museums and art galleries as well.

Prague is fabulous, especially if you like beer. Quite a compact city, so it’s really easy to explore on foot, but it can get busy/crowded, particularly on and around Charles Bridge. Had a long weekend there, and would happily go back.
