Go to bed. On an average school night? And at the weekends? I’ve got into the habit of going really late and need to make a change!

9pm, but we’re up around 5am so shattered by 9.

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 20/10/2025 18:41

11pm on a weeknight and get up at 7am.

At the weekends I go to bed whenever I like which is usually 1am and get up around 9pm. I've never liked the mornings and am a night owl, if I could I'd go to bed late every night and not get up to at least 10am but sadly life has other plans.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/10/2025 18:54

i just about make it to the end of the news

EndlessDistraction · 20/10/2025 19:04

Between 11 and 12, up at 7ish. Including Saturdays but tend to stay in bed till about 8 on Sunday. I really should go to bed earlier but I do fine on this routine.

OptiMumm · 20/10/2025 19:05

About 12.30am

Up at about 7.30am

Kitchenbattle · 20/10/2025 19:09

DemonsandMosquitoes · 20/10/2025 19:10

ItsAWonderfulLifeforMe · 20/10/2025 19:10

I was doing the same but since the nights have got darker i am going to bed earlier most nights ,sometimes 9 - 9.30 and i am feeling the benefits .
I can still have a good read in bed ,my favourite place to read and still switch light off early enough.

JacknDiane · 20/10/2025 19:11

Im trying to go to bed between 10pm-10.30pm, but i read for ages. Am up during the night to wee at 7.15am.

ButtonMushrooms · 20/10/2025 19:11

I go upstairs around 10pm, asleep by 10.30/11pm.

ifyoulikechocolate · 20/10/2025 19:12

I try to get into bed by 10.30 but rarely do, but most days by 11. It’s been a conscious decision I made recently, otherwise I would stay up till 12/12.30. It takes me ages for my brain to shut off though. I did try a meditation app last night which helped a little.

Edgeoutthepylon · 20/10/2025 19:13

If I could choose I’d get 10hrs sleep a night! Anything less than 8 and I feel awful.

We go to bed at 11pm, up at 5.45am.

ifyoulikechocolate · 20/10/2025 19:18

Just wanted to add, in a book I read the writer was talking about how she was spending the hours after 10 pm as “time for herself” because she was so busy with work and kids and home, and it felt like it was the only time she got to herself. That really resonated with me. But she went on to say how the ultimate time she could give herself was a restful, full night sleep. It was like a lightbulb went on in my head.

goodnightssleepbenice · 20/10/2025 19:32

I go to bed about 11.30 in the week and maybe bit later at the weekend . I rarely go straight to sleep. I get up at 6.45, later at the weekends . Every fortnight or so I will have an early night at about 10pm .

Cantseetreesforthewood · 20/10/2025 19:44

About 10pm - lights out around half past. Up at 6am. Similar at weekends - tho there is no alarm clock, so 6am is more like 7am.

DH, otoh, comes to bed 1am or 2am. No idea what time he gets up on a work day - he's snoring when I leave. He gets up around 10am or 11am at the weekends.

TheNightingalesStarling · 20/10/2025 19:49

I'm a bit jealous of the 9pm people, as my DDs have reached their teens i can be out to 10pm or later picking them up from extra curricular uff. I miss the activities being over by 7....

I aim for 10.30ish. But sometimes lack the motivation to walk upstairs.

janehopper · 20/10/2025 20:02

I get antsy if I'm still downstairs at 8, but my ideal day is to get up and have a bath, get into comfy clothes and go back to bed with a book. Once I retire I don't think I'll ever get up ....

We’re past that stage now (it was every night for a while) but I can’t throw the habit of going out pretty well every night, so I am out doing exercise classes, choir, allotment in summer etc myself, more enjoyable and better for me but still leads to later nights than I would ideally have.

blankcanvas3 · 20/10/2025 20:33

11/11:30 usually, DD2 wakes up at 6 but goes back to sleep if I bring her into our bed, meaning I don’t have to get up until 7 when DD1 wakes up generally

SabreIsMyFave · 20/10/2025 20:46

@Edgeoutthepylon

I try to go to bed around 10.30pm-11.00pm. This is apparently the optimum time to go to bed to get a good night's sleep. (I usually do.) And for good health. If I stay up til 12.30am-1.00am, I am sometimes still awake at 2.00am. Not good. Especially if I have to be up early-ish. (When I go between 10.30pm and 11.00pm I go to sleep within 15 minutes...)

If I go too early, like 9.00pm to 9.30pm, I am often awake by 5.00am, and unable to get back to sleep. Weirdly, I am way more tired - and lethargic and fatigued all day - if I sleep 8 hours from 9.00pm to 5.00am, than I am if I sleep 8 hours from 11.00pm to 7.00am.

applemangoo · 20/10/2025 21:09

I set a bedtime reminder for 10pm but rarely actually fall asleep until gone 11. Alarm gets me up at 5:30am every day 😴
