Breast reduction - is there any upper age limit?

Or am I being ridiculous for even considering it? I am 65 years old.

I've always had heavy breasts, and hated them, but after breastfeeding three children, and then gaining a huge amount of weight (before being diagnosed and treated for depression), I am left with breasts that are like spaniels' ears (J cup).

I have realised that my posture is very round shouldered, trying to hide them, I suffer awful sweat rashes under both breasts (despite having fitted bras from Bravissimo) and general lack of self confidence.

I've never had the money to have surgery before, but thanks to a small inheritance, I can now pay for it. I am confident that it wouldn't be offered by the NHS, so definitely would be private.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this? I am wary of starting to contact surgeons if it wouldn't even be an option for me.

There are 3 huge threads on breast reductions here that are absolutely excellent and full of information for all ages.

i don’t know myself if there is an upper age limit, I imagine the risks go up with any surgery over 70, but there are some
women in their 60’s in better shape than 30 year olds so I suppose it depends on you and your health.

I will find the thread for you and put a link here now:

Do it! I'm in my 50s and a saggy E/F cup and I would like a shot if I could afford it. I'm sure any reputable surgeon will advise you on risks. The one thing I wouldn't do is have it done overseas.

It’s certainly worth a consultation at least. Where they can have a look and give you information.

Women of your age often have breast lifts and face lifts so I don’t see why there would be a limit on a reduction.
