2 year sleep regression help

Help need suggestions
my Ds I believe it going through the sleep regression (just over 2 and half) he fights going to bed and then he wakes up at like 1am and won't fall back to sleep till like 5/6am when nearly time to get up for nursery
I try just leaving him in his room but he can now open the stair gate in there so he just walks out he won't settle if comes in bed next to me
when he does have a nap it's only like 20mins
my partner does most the putting him to bed routine as I work 14/15 hour shifts some days and then I end up getting up with him as he starts work at 4am so we both knackered and stressed so just need to advise on what people have found help or how long this is
we gone through it before but never to this point

Never had this with any of our 7..sounds like the bairn isn't even tired out, are there naps in the daytime? Our youngest twins are 2 and we have a 3 Yr old and they all sleep well from 7:30pm till 8am, own beds, 1 cup of milk to take to bed. Our stairgate on there room locks so in the morning I wake to little people shouting "mummy we are awake now"
Forgot to add no day naps either so quite often the girls do go an hour earlier than 7:30

Sounds like a split night. Have you tried doing the bedtime routine again when he wakes just a shorter version? Maybe hes figured out that he gets time with you when he wakes?

@JustMe2026 he has about an hour nap at nursery but only has about 15/20 minutes at home don't force him to have one tho I have tried doing no nap and literally keeping him busy all day on my last day off a couple days ago to see if it's cause he wasn't kept busy enough to be tired but still the same he used to sleep all night in bed between 7/8pm wake up 6/7am now it's just stressful and starting to take its toll

@Dairymilkisminging yea I tried the bedtime time routine a couple times but he just screams when I put him back into bed
