Posting here for traffic.

Has anyone done this?
all seems too good to be true.
prices are similar, delivery is generally included and fitting is averaging around £50.
think I’m reticent because I’ve normally only bought books from amazon.

yes, I have looked at reviews but I don’t always trust them!

I don't know about Amazon, but I bought a washing machine from Currys last year, and they were fantastic. They installed the new one and took the old one away. They even rang me beforehand to check the details. Fantastic service.

Thank you for replying.

I’ve looked at currys but they add extra for delivery and delivery dates are quite far away.

I wasn’t even aware that Amazon sold them but, as it’s always listening!, they popped up!

I bought a washing machine from Amazon earlier this year. It was no different to ordering from AO or Curry’s. I just bought it, it offered me delivery slots and it came.

I didn’t use an installation service because I find it easy to do myself. Taking the old one to the tip was heavy though, and AO etc will dispose of the old one for a fee (I don’t think my Amazon one offered disposal).

I had a bad experience with ao when I bought my last one.
they refused to install as machine isn’t next to sink.
it was a one out one in situation but they refused then they expected me to keep new machine and claim refund for installation and disposal and employ another company.
delivery guys were furious when I told them I don’t want anything from ao and take it away.
I had mangers phoning me too!
it was insane so ao is off my list!

I bought my Miele washing machine from Amazon during Covid. Typically I would buy from John Lewis or appliances online but due to Covid shortages choices were limited. Absolutely no issues. I’ve subsequently bought a tv from Amazon when I wanted a specific one and that also had no issues as a purchase

I was lucky as our washer had broken down, and as it was over 20 years old it wasn't worth repairing. Curry's offered a two day delivery and it only cost me an extra £30 for installation and taking away the old one. So, for me it was worth it.

I say this on each appliance thread but I bought a cooker on Boots appliances a few yrs ago and you get points!
When I got the despatch letter etc, it came from AO.

Win win.

Thanks but AO really upset me, so I won’t use them

Manufacturers don't make different machines for different retailers, are you thinking that somehow it will be an inferior product or are you concerned about customer service or Amazon's tax affairs

CatsorDogsrule · 18/10/2025 11:38

If Amazon is the seller, I would have no issues using them if they gave the additional services I usually buy such as recycling of old, etc.

(I'm really surprised to hear about your AO experience. I've bought countless appliances from them over the last 15 years and they have always been great. I even got a cooker fitted with them for my elderly mother the other week. Full installation, recycling of old, demonstration, etc. She was full of praise. They even couldn't park nearby, but no complaints from them.)

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 19/10/2025 21:55

Not a washing machine but a dryer from amazon. Offer included free installation and taking old one away and all the packing. Arranged delivery, waited in all day. Could see it hadn't even left the depot down south. Took.5 days for them to reply to my complaint. They gave me 50 quid compensation. Delivery today, on time, tracked it all the way. Working fine.

BertieBotts · 19/10/2025 21:59

The installation service can be iffy depending on who it's offered by. One time we asked for our old one to be uninstalled and taken away and the guy just said no, I can't do that, I'm only one person (and then left). He didn't actually speak either English or the language of the country we live in - the only way I managed to communicate with him was using google translate on his phone. I felt bad because it wasn't his fault - he was just an amazon delivery person, not an appliance installer, the fault was with amazon for not sending the appropriate worker.

We did get the charge refunded from amazon and they sent someone to pick up the old device, but it was stressful and inconvenient.

RedRiverShore5 · 19/10/2025 22:05

I have bought from Marks Electrical quite a lot and found them to be good

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 19/10/2025 22:12

We had awful experience with Currys - they delivered a clearly broken machine then took yet another week to pick up and deliver a replacement never used them since.

AO been fine for us - though last fridge freezer was with amazon and it was straight forward.

I don't know about washing machines, but I bought a jumper from M&S last year and it's lovely. Quick delivery and well packaged.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 19/10/2025 22:53

Try mark's electrical as well as they do free delivery.

Shop around. I bought a washing machine 4 weeks ago delivery was free and installation and taking the old one away was 35 quid.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 19/10/2025 23:34

I’ve bought a washing machine from Amazon and they did exactly what they said they would. I’d also say the machine came with a two year warranty it broke down after 18 months. Customer service was great. I got a new machine which they delivered and installed and took away the broken one. I’d really recommend.

isitmytime · 19/10/2025 23:40

Do bought his washing machine and couldn’t fault it.
They disconnected the old one, plumbed in the new one, took away the old one and any rubbish and even set the drum clean cycle off before leaving. It was the best priced one he found as well. His only negative was his delivery was changed the day it was due tbut he got to pick the next slot which was the next day. Machine works great I just can’t remember the brand

Spicepie · 19/10/2025 23:52

I got mine from appliance direct also got my dryer from them.
Ans next day delivery.

KittyWilkinson · 20/10/2025 00:04

I bought a washing machine from Amazon a few months ago. Installed, old one taken away and packaging too. I was very happy with the service and was able to track it.

Mirandawrongs · 20/10/2025 05:52

Update:
so I’ve bought one, not from Amazon.
went to lg website and they’ve got a lot of deals on.
free delivery and trade up thing where they take your old machine.
With these deals, machine, delivery, installation and collection ended up being cheaper than anywhere else!
