My great nephew‘s first birthday is coming up. Asksd his Mum, my niece, what I might buy for him and she suggested a bath toy. My DC loved their bath toys but that was a long time ago!
What are your 1 - 2 year olds‘ favourite bath toys? Please feel free to repeat if someone‘s already mentioned it so I can gauge popularity, thank you.

Waterproof white books that change colour when they get wet, bath crayons, any water vessel but particularly a bath teacup set, octopus with rings to put on it, squeezy fish

Can't go wrong with a rubber duck, we've got a family of them

Mrsoftandhisstrangeworld · 16/10/2025 20:37

Anything that doesn't squirt water because they just get full of mould

This is hugely popular and often mentioned on the Christmas toys threads. Barista bath toy set https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/pre-school-and-electronic-learning/tomy/tomy-toomies-bath-barista-toy-set/p/224268

I’ve bought bath cogs before and been told it’s been a big hit https://www.boots.com/nuby-bath-cogs-bath-toy-10337289 and this wacky pipes set https://www.boots.com/nuby-wacky-pipes-bath-toy-10337290

the Christmas bargains thread is fantastic, it’s been going for decades and posters on there have great gift recommendations by age, if you ask your question there, they are so helpful www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5424925-thread-6-the-one-where-things-are-getting-organised

I agree with pipes - they stay fun for years, don’t get gross, and can be added to for future presents

My son has little wind up toys which ‘swim’ in the bath which he loves. Also just cups for pouring water in and out of!

The GreenToys ferry boat with cars has been my kid’s favourite bath toy for a solid six years now—he still plays with it at nearly 8 years old 😀

Zippymonkey · 16/10/2025 21:57

I second the Greentoys ferry car boat and stacking cups with holes in

I loved the WOW toys for mine and have given lots to young relatives. They have a website and have sometimes been sold in Aldi. They also do things like tractors.
My mum used to give toddlers measuring spoons to play with, which they enjoyed.

You can get a little elephant toy that acts as a small handheld shower.
Or a little whale that lights up and squirts water out of his head. Super cute my DS loves his x

I got a set of measuring cups for my lo's -and some bowls - they spent hours (i mean hours) mixing potions and making meals

I’ve found the playmobile bath toys good. They are made for that age range and we’ve had ours a few years now without them going mouldy. (So many bath toys go horrible on the inside where you can’t clean)
