Why is Metanium £25 for an opened tube?

I’ve just seen a tube of Metanium baby cream on Vinted for £25. What’s that about? Is it a front for something else? Weird.

Because it’s discontinued

Travellingraspberry · 16/10/2025 14:08

Think its been discontinued or the formula has changed so the demand for the original one is high!

Disco2022 · 16/10/2025 14:09

It's not discontinued now. I bought some the other day.

The yellow one?

Disco2022 · 16/10/2025 14:09

The new one is not yellow but it's still my favourite baby bum cream.

Luxio · 16/10/2025 14:09

It was discontinued I believe due to them not being able to get a specific ingredient.

It’s the yellow one everyone wants .

God, that stuff was a bloody lifesaver when my girls were babies. Nothing else came close.
OP, it’s a discontinued nappy rash cream. It’s still rather cheeky of the seller though!

Wallcarpets · 16/10/2025 14:15

My kids are older now, but I’ve got about 5 tubes of the yellow one in various places around the house. It’s brilliant! Should I sell? I might get rich! Grin

whatsupsis · 16/10/2025 14:15

Ahhhh. Yes I used it on all of mine and under my breast before I lost weight. I didn’t realise it was discontinued. Wow. £25. Mad.

Dude it’s £3.50 in sainsburys (just did a quick google). An open tube is asking for trouble and so is buying essentially medical supplies on Vinted who knows what it is!

Ornamentalcabbages · 16/10/2025 14:17

I found a brand new, sealed, boxed tube in my cupboard the other week - what shall I start the bidding at? I'm eyeing up a lovely Italian villa I need to fund early retirement for...

procrastinating20 · 16/10/2025 14:18

If it’s not what you are after just go to the pharmacy and see if they have an alternative

No it’s not - metanium everyday isn’t the same as original metanium. They have made it yellow now so people buy it but it’s not the original stuff that worked wonders. I wouldn’t part with my half filled tubes for a mere £25 as there is no alternative. Nothing from the pharmacy or on prescription works.

wertgyhjk · 16/10/2025 14:22

Ooh, I've got a couple of barely used tubes that are several years old. Didn't realise I was sitting on a nest egg! 😁

ImSoJulia · 16/10/2025 16:39

I loved that stuff. So much better than anything else. Poor modern parents having to manage nappy rash without it.
