New Omaze Yorkshire house location

Found the new property from today's release: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LtpiZBwSdKmgxNgy9

The house appeared in an article called "Something out of nothing" in The English Garden.
"The eight-acre plot surrounding Tunstall Grange, on the outskirts of Catterick in North Yorkshire, consisted of a collection of old farm buildings that were being incorporated into the new house design, a field grazed by sheep, a lake that James had dug and some shrubs that had been planted by James a few years before. “Our brief to Alistair was to join the field, the lake and the new house together so it felt like a coherent space,” says James. “Our architect, who loves caves and grottoes, also sowed the seed of an idea for a water feature, and Jo and I both thought it would be lovely to be able to hear the sound of water from the terrace and the house.” "
Can't find any previous listings on Zoopla or Rightmove. Nice to see something other than a white box for a change.

Someone suggested it was Tunstall Grange in the Instagram teaser yesterday. I normally love the modern houses they do, but this one is a right corker; it even has a hint of Saltburn about it

The house looks nice...
Just a shame its near Catterick.

JacknDiane · 16/10/2025 10:29

I wouldn't say no...

AutumnDayswhen · 16/10/2025 10:33

It's in the best county, so that's a big point in its favour Grin

I had to go and search around this to see what you mean - I see it has its problems

Fortunately the rest of the surrounding area is nice, like Richmond and Northallerton.

(I lived in Catterick for 2 years incidentally I'm not just randomly insulting it)

Looks amazing. I’d be happy with this as my forever home after I built a sauna/gym near the pool or between that and the tennis court. Might be a bit pricey to run, but looks fabulous.

TMMC1 · 16/10/2025 11:35

I find them all bland and soulless these days. They seem to have one interior designer that has one style irrelevant of the house or its surroundings.

Viczter · 18/10/2025 11:49

I live in Somerset and not terribly familiar with Yorkshire. Please explain why being near Catterick is not preferable.

Also, the map link to the house sent me somewhere completely different. Is that link correct?

PearlClutzsche · 18/10/2025 11:53

I love an Omaze house, but find this one just a bit too big and over the top.

Could still force myself to live in it though!

Catterick is a massive army base. Nothing but soldiers, thousands of them, with associated problems. (And bad memories for some of those who lived on the base!) But surrounding area nice
.

Lanva · 18/10/2025 12:21

It is absolutely splendid!

I would wear a tremendously impractical gown and muddy wellies and take up smoking and have pencils in my hair. I would throw chaotic parties where we'd all get ridiculously drunk on the first night and then try manfully, helpless and groaning, to go on a virtuous walk, hungover the next day. I'd get a horse and pay a local teenager to do the stable with my bags and BAGS of cash. I'd get a little boat and float about on that water, declaiming speeches by Cicero.

I'd start an obnoxious local campaign to get the train station reopened, annoying everyone to death. I'd buy artisan cheeses and have eggs delivered.

I'd be so good at owning this house!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 18/10/2025 12:33

I think you'd be a natural, @lanva. Please invite me for the occasional weekend.

Lanva · 18/10/2025 12:51

You're very welcome! Don't worry about bringing the right coat, there will be loads of old wax jackets and mismatched wellies in the boot room. As you know, boot rooms simply manifest these things.

FurForksSake · 18/10/2025 13:03

I’d have the moving van booked, dogs and horses purchased and my kids in the car before I hung up the phone.

PastaAllaNorma · 18/10/2025 13:05

Yes, I thought it looked gorgeous until I saw Catterick.

Yay, thousands of bored squaddies, what could possibly go wrong?

FurForksSake · 18/10/2025 13:10

They can all come and play in the pool, it’s fine! 🤭

KittyRannaldini · 18/10/2025 13:13

Oh it's nice. I still haven't forgiven them for my not winning the London one, but it's nice.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 18/10/2025 13:15

I have a subscription to Omaze. I love the look of this house, though I don’t fancy cleaning it! On another note, I’m going to get an extra ticket for it as they are supporting Refuge.

Think 40 Commando.

DiscoHippo · 19/10/2025 22:31

I’m so disappointed they haven’t marketed this as ‘The Catterick House’ 😂

FurForksSake · 19/10/2025 22:57

Or The Garrison House or “with access to many local aMENaties”

Joking aside, there is (was?) A massive supermarket a cinema, a library, a hotel, a leisure centre and many takeaways so quite a few amenities for a rural area. And good access onto the A1 and A66.
