Driving test apps - do they actually work?

DD17 has her driving test booked for early January. She has been driving since May. She has her own car she has been out every day with me teaching her as well as a weekly driving lesson with a professional instructor.

The instructor has been saying for a while she is ready to take her test and recommended downloading one of the test apps. The problem we are facing is that as soon as an earlier date comes up it's gone within seconds, even when dd clicks on it (as she has done just 5 mins ago) the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I appreciate there are probably thousands on these apps but how the heck do you strike lucky?

She is on the Testi app, I didn't realise until I have just googled it has an awful rating.

Are there any better ones?

We found testi rubbish. My neighbour used testshift I think, it’s an app that holds the test when it finds it. Might be worth a try. I just spent ages going on govt website but that was annoying and very time consuming.

It really is so time consuming. We had to get up at 6am to book the test on the Government website, what a nightmare.

I will have a look at the Testshift one, thanks.

Worked for me, but probably only because I happened to be looking at my phone at the exact moment a slot in my town became free so I grabbed it instantly. It was the only one that came up in the 6 months between passing my theory and actually taking my practical test. Thank god I passed first time because otherwise I’d have been looking at another 6 month wait for a second!

That's my next concern, if dd fails it is going to be a nightmare finding another test.
