I heard this phrase at the weekend and asked AI (which I try to avoid doing). The response seemed to imply it was mainly about sports people who made a brief but memorable impact, but could it apply to other areas of life?

If you want, eg "The streets won't forget penis beaker"

Depending on context of course but, I would take it to mean locals won't forget something tragic happening on their street.

Who said it and in what context? Sounds like a bit of a wanky expression unless it was Mike Skinner the rapper declining a paper printout of his next dental appointment.

Tbh I think it was actually on the radio or podcast but can't remember who or exactly why. Possibly it was in regard to something funny or memorable but not particularly important.

I would think It just means that places will bear silent witness to the momentous events which happened there, long after the people involved at the time have gone.

That would make sense, I guess.
