If you got married in 2025, but you were still in your 20's, what dress would you wear?

I think I'd go for something a bit more out there, like more slinky and a bit more risky on the top

I always wanted to get married in a floaty hippy style dress with flowers in my hair.
(I got married at age 37 in a boring nice non wedding dress from Debenhams)

Lipglosser · 13/10/2025 12:35

Oh yes flowers in the hair sounds so nice

I wish I wore my hair down

what kinda dress did you have then ? If it was a non wedding dress and why did you get a non wedding dress was it a bit last min ? Or abroad ?

I'd probably wear what I did wear to get married in 2012, a pair of jeans, an old corduroy coat and a gardenia in my lapel.

TypeyMcTypeface · 13/10/2025 12:42

The same one I got married in 20 years ago. It's a Victorian-style, raw silk dress.

Maybe this:

Magda Butrym dress

Or this:

Cecilie Bahnsen dress

I’d wear my dress again. Married in 2017. It was Jenny Packham with a drape added to the arms and lots of flowy layers of chiffon. And I had flowers in my hair. I felt like a fairy!

Register Office.
I am not "wedding-y" at all and to me it was just a legal thing.
I wanted to wear jeans and a hippyish top but was persuaded by my mum to get a "nice" dress. It was a pink/purple summer dress from Debenhams. It was ok I suppose. Just not really something I'd ever wear normally and as it only cost about £40 I just went along with it.
To be honest a long floaty hippy dress wouldn't have suited me either (it might have done in my 20s when I was considerably thinner).
(I did actually buy a hippyish top - also from Debenhams. I wore that until it fell apart 😂)

Woah that's different! Was this in the uk?

If I were young again and getting married now I would love this dress -

Based on a 1940's wedding dress, has a slightly more A line skirt than 'Violette', and a cross-over subtly sexy neckline.
Made in finest silk satin, shoulder embellishment can be added or kept simple as desired. It has a pretty puff sleeve with a cuff, but can also have a long sleeve, or a small lace sleeve to match the champagne beaded shoulder detail.

If you got married in 2025, but you were still in your 20's, what dress would you wear?

I’d go with a big froofy meringue dress now. I got married in my twenties ten years ago in a strappy tea length dress. I think well designed meringues with a structured bodice are so gorgeous now (I didn’t fancy any of the styles available at the time).

Really? Did you hate your husband?

Seriously? You think wearing a wedding dress equates to Loving Your Husband? I must remember to tell my medic friends who got married wearing scrubs 30 years back.

Vivienne Westwood’s “Tabitha” in ivory.

That's a very odd thing to think.
Not everyone is interested in a wedding.
They just want to get married.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 13/10/2025 13:30

I always liked the idea of getting married on a beach in a floaty white sundress and bare feet.

I married in 1994 in a a traditional meringue type dress. It was lovely though, soft cotton type fabric rather than shiny or satiny, nice tasteful lace sleeves, not scratchy. I’ve still got it in the loft somewhere. It wouldn’t go past my knees nowadays.

Her casual dress suggests the opposite to me. She wanted the marriage rather than being fussed about the occasion of the wedding.

I’m a sucker for a big wedding dress so maybe something like this

Id go for a beautifully embroidered gown with appliqué flowers my hair loose and curled and a flower crown. In real life it was registry office in a Wallis peach coloured skirt and short jacket with big puffed sleeves and a white blouse with big crochet lace collar, very 80’s
