Anyoneany experience of Simply Piano, Dec Play etc - simpler ways to learn the piano

I'm older and want to learn to play a few songs on the piano. I've tried the traditional route of learning the chords but it was too much for me. So planning to go more of a play by numbers type route or something similar. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

I did Simply Piano for a couple of months. I used to play as a child but had completely forgotten how to read music. I enjoyed the app, good mix of songs and it’s quite short segments before you can move on to the next section. I then stopped the app and got a simple song book to just play at my own pace.

I subscribed to Simply Piano (I think, or maybe it was another similar piano tuition app) for one year and spent no more than 30 minutes on it. And that was just trying to work out how to use it! I found it impossible. A complete waste of £100+ or whatever it was.
