Quince - am I missing something?

My tree is absolutely laden. Just poached some with sugar, cinnamon, allspice & lemon peel. Doesn’t taste of much. What am I doing wrong?

It’s a subtle taste, but it can vary by year also. Some years they seem to be really ‘perfumed’, other years less so. I love them as they freeze well in the sugar syrup and I have them for breakfast ( with yoghurt) for months.

My husband makesquince jelly with ours. Delicious with manchego cheese. It has a delicate taste that is both sweet and tart.

Top Tip - try slicing them and eating them with a runcible spoon.

Quince don’t taste off much, just a subtle rose flavour. Best used in membrillo though it’s a labour of love to make!

@corlan OP will need some mince to go with that though…

Seriously….another vote for quince jelly or home made membrillo. Both delicious.

Do you have a Japanese quince? They tend to taste a bit different.
