Im not sure how this man's horrible crimes are anything to do with Omaze but glad to see he's been found guilty. I hope his victims find some comfort in that.

AgnesMcDoo · 10/10/2025 16:26

Glad he’s been found guilty but don’t see how this is Omaze’s responsibility

DiscoHippo · 10/10/2025 16:36

Oh, Omaze isn’t responsible; I just wonder if they’ll say anything - they’ve certainly been pushing the extra prizes of late, and this is a tricky one to navigate. Just an interesting - and awful - story.

Woah! I hope his sentence is harsh. No wonder Omaze are going in hard with the million quid drops and 'look this way' business.

As with the lottery, gambling winners aren’t always worthy. 🤷‍♀️

DarkForces · 10/10/2025 16:40

Why would they say anything? Would you expect the company who employed him or sold him his car to put out a statement? I honestly don't understand the relevance of him winning a house lottery to this situation.
The only interesting thing is how long he should be behind bars. Sadly awful men are two a penny.

DiscoHippo · 10/10/2025 16:43

They might be asked to; they have a lot of social media and are very responsive to it. The part about him being a piece of shit and should go away for years comes as standard.

DarkForces · 10/10/2025 16:48

I really can't see what omaze could possibly have to say of any relevance in this case

DiscoHippo · 10/10/2025 16:52

No, as reiterated, it’s the potential for them to be pressured to say something by way of social media. That’s all.

Oh come on OP - you're just gossiping. There's no angle on this. A house was won in a raffle, the bastard wasn't awarded a prize for humanitarian achievement.

DiscoHippo · 10/10/2025 17:17

Most posts about Omaze are gossipy and speculative. I am genuinely interested in how Omaze handle this - if they do at all. So I make no apology for how you find this to be. If you don’t like it, move on.

I don't see what Omaze "pushing extra prizes" has got to do with anything. Do you think that offering a house and a £1 million quid is more likely to attract pedophiles or bank robbers or arsonists to enter? I don't see your logic. Would you expect the man's workplace or landlord or barber to issue a statement? If so, what exactly would you like them to say? Look, it's quite simple. Anyone can enter this draw, buy a Premium Bond, do the Lottery or put a bet on a horse and anyone can win. I think you need to explain what's in your head, because at the moment it makes no sense.

MrsPinkCock · 10/10/2025 18:03

Aren’t Omaze one of the companies who vet their winners to make sure they’re worthy of the prize, with DBS checks and such?

It’s a bit late for them now but it would make OPs question relevant, and valid!

No, that was a sort of rumour going round on social media. What they do is check your ID and I believe also your bank statements to make sure you aren't a money launderer. In any event, DBS checks wouldn't show that you were a criminal unless you'd already been convicted of something. In this case, for example, the winner was arrested a year after winning the house.

DarkForces · 10/10/2025 19:03

Even if it would have come up in a dbs check omaze wouldn't be eligible to have them carried out. You have to be able to justify it for safeguarding reasons, not pr.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 10/10/2025 19:37

This post is so random, it’s literally nothing to do with them 🫣

They can't use the DBS system for that anyway, but even if they did he wasn't the winner, his wife was.
