Is Meetup worth £5 per week - used to be free!

A couple of years ago, I was a member of Meetup and joined a couple of groups for about 6 months. Then I got busy with other things and left.

Now I am reconsidering doing a little bit of socialising, but Meetup now charges, much to my surprise. £5 per week seems quite expensive. Especially if I’m only doing things once or twice a month. I am undecided as to whether to re-join.

What do other people think about this?

I think the charge is off-putting. If you use it regularly (weekly) it might be worth it. But occasionally.... 😵‍💫

It doesn’t. It’s free. I’m a meetup host. I pay to run groups but members are free.

I have been looking at it because I am moving to a totally new area. It does seem to have a monthly fee now?

Isn’t it only meet up+ that’s subscription, I think standard is still free unless it’s very recently changed.

Ok thanks. It looks to me like it’s demanding £4.99 per week.

Perhaps this is just a way to confuse you … there are different ways to do things …. usual corporate bx. Anyway, I will look against some point.

You’re looking at the fees organisers pay. If you’re not planning on running a group, it is definitely free.
