School disco lights

I help with the PTA and we’re holding a school disco. We want to hire some lights, maybe at a cost of up to £50 ish

Can anyone advise on what to look for or hire please? It’s in the school hall which is not huge. It has a stage. Trying to keep costs down to maximise profits, so we’re not hiring a DJ but a sixth former will play music through a laptop, for example. Thank you

We hold a few PTA discos every year, in our school hall. We bought a few sets off Amazon. Over the year they’ve paid for themselves. They get PAT tested.

Thanks - do you know what kind they were? There’s just so many kinds, I don’t know what would work.

I work in entertainment lighting. You probably want to search for something like this that can work in reaction to sound. These are somewhat higher in price, but you could likely hire around your budget. Having previously worked in rental companies they are reasonably well built and a lot sturdier than the Amazon type ones listed above. If you do 3 discos a year (end of terms) they have paid for themselves in around 2 years at £50ish a time, and will last well in excess of that of stored and setup/taken down carefully.

Can you borrow from another school for a small donation?
