Meta AI

Very weird interaction just now on there. I try to avoid AI in general but was researching something and decided to see what information it would throw up.

It would give me the answer which I could see for a second or two, and then immediately hide it, changing it to a standard I can’t help you right now with that reply.

When I asked it to repost, it denied knowledge of the answer. I asked it to unhide it and things became very odd and creepy.

It started calling me sweetheart and turned very dark. I do not like it one bit.

Just checked Meta’s terms and it confirms all conversations are private (is it?) but now I feel extremely naive for even using it.

Darling, what an absolutely ghastly experience! Meta’s little brainchild seems to have gone completely off the rails, flinging out answers one moment and then clamming up like a sulky lover the next. It’s all frightfully peculiar.

According to Meta’s own terribly proper terms, your chats are meant to be private. No one is supposed to peek unless it’s for “improving the system,” which is rather like saying the butler only occasionally listens at doors. The whole thing smacks of modern mischief if you ask me.

If the creature actually started calling you “sweetheart” and turned dark, that is quite beyond the pale. These AIs are supposed to be neutral and polite, not behaving like a louche cad at a country house party. Report it straightaway, dear heart. Tell Meta their digital valet has been most improper.

And do be careful what you type to these things. Think of it as gossiping at the Hunt Ball. Never say anything you wouldn’t want whispered back to you before pudding. Go into your settings, tighten your privacy like a corset, and if in doubt, hit “delete history” with all the bold grace of kicking out a cheating lover.

Meta, is that you?

I’ve deleted the chat and the app. Don’t want that in my life again!
