Buxton area recommendations?

Myself and a friend are looking to meet around Buxton (Derby) area as it’s equidistant ish to us both. Want to meet for a walk and lunch and preferably not pay a hundred pounds for parking ☺️
Any good recommendations please?🙏

Did you want to meet in the actual town? There's some nice cafes/pubs, the Pavillion Gardens (inside and out) and some nice shops, but otherwise not a huge amount to see.

If you were happy to go a bit further afield then here's some great pubs in local villages.

The Royal Oak at Hurdlow is nearby, just off the Monsall Trail (I think) - that always used to do excellent pies mmmmmm.

The Lazy Trout at Meerbrook has fantastic food and you could walk around Tittesworth Reservoir (ca. 5 miles circular I think).

The George at Alstonefield (much pricier and posher), which is closer towards Ashbourne, has lovely walking nearby too.
