Name change and active direct debits

I got married last month and have changed the name on my main bank account but I'm having a bit of a flap now about whether the direct debits will still come out ok? The bank isn’t open until tomorrow The account is all the same (same account number and sort code) except my surname obviously.

Can anyone advise/reassure?

Once the DD is set up, it won't likely be changed unless you or the organisation change / cancel it. I think you'll be fine with a name change.

The COP, (confirmation of payee, where they check the name is correct on the bank) is usually only done at first set up.

It never made a difference to any of my (many) DD's when I changed my name with the bank. I wouldn't worry.

Just remember to call round the actual companies when you get a chance, to update them.

so just to confirm the payment would still come out as normal regardless of the surname even if I have not yet updated my surname with the company? Sorry for sounding daft

Ignore me guys. My husband has confirmed that name change won’t affect my active direct debits as my sort code and account number are the same, my direct debit payments will continue to be taken as intended. Thank you for your help though!
