You can come here and have some of mine - windy, raining...definitely autumn

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 04/10/2025 13:25

We've got it in Yorkshire. Although October is very often warm.

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/10/2025 13:25

Here. It’s very cold and been blowing a gale for the last day and a half and we had torrential rain, some flooding and lightening yesterday and last night.

Frankblackwife · 04/10/2025 13:30

it hardly ever gets very cold here, are you new? 12° usually

lol you always get these ones. “It’s not cold unless the inside of the windows are covered in ice. It’s a balmy 12° here and I’m sweating in my bikini”.

NewYorkSummer · 04/10/2025 13:46

October is often mild. Coldest weather is always November to February. I remember many warm Hallowe’ens where we didnt even need coats for trick or treating.

This. It tends to start getting properly cold around Halloween/Bonfire night. The weather is definitely turning but it doesn’t feel unseasonably warm yet.

Huh?

Meadowfinch · 04/10/2025 14:07

Leave your heating off, wear sweaters & socks, and drink hot toddies..

Will that help?

It's only the 4th Oct. By the end of Nov it'll be cold and miserable enough even for you.

steamingin · 04/10/2025 14:12

It's not even 2 weeks into Autumn yet. It'll get cold soon enough. 'Tis odd being the warm (ish) and windy though.

Implodingyourmirage · 04/10/2025 14:12

Windy, rainy, damp feeling (so makes it feel colder), autumn definitely here where we are. Heaters still not really coming on that much though (currently just got hall and one in lounge set for short time am and evening).

Ah, you gotta love a Mumsnet argument about the weather....

It's stormy where I am, but not particularly cold. I'm enjoying seeing the leaves on the trees turning orange and brown, there are some lovely colours about.

It’s only the first week of October so it’s bound to be fairly mild still.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 06/10/2025 11:53

Sunny 18° here in Cambridgeshire with a slight breeze. Getting my laundry done and on the line.🧺

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/10/2025 11:55

I don’t think it’s that unusual. ‘Indian summer’ has long been a thing. And I well remember one day over 20 years ago, out with dds on 31st October - temp was in the low 70s, so 20/21, gorgeous, warm sunny day.

The very next day, 1st November, was truly November-ish- much colder, wet and blowing a gale, autumn leaves whirling everywhere!

Newmeagain · 06/10/2025 11:56

The wind over the weekend was pretty cold and it’s been cold overnight.

i don’t particularly want it to get much colder soon. Those wishing for really cold weather must have money to burn…
