Vinted - help needed for returned item!

Hello, I just wondered if anyone could give me an advice on an issue that I’m having with the seller on Vinted. I ordered a Michael Kors backpack and it was delivered as usual. When I opened the parcel, I noticed that the backpack was not in the condition as described, stitching was coming away, there was scratches and something just off so I reported it as being damaged. I messaged the buyer saying I may consider a partial refund and one was offered but I declined it. At this point it became very obvious to me that this is not a genuine bag. It didn’t have the signature lining, and the lining was in fact coming away. I’ve got quite a few Michael Kors items myself and I know that it’s very good quality and this one just did not compare at all. Not only that it just completely contradicted the condition it was described to be. So I sent another message to the buyer explaining that I’d concerns that it wasn’t genuine and at this point, they selected for it to be returned to them. In this time, I haven’t had any contact from them explaining or apologising or anything like that. The buyer does have some reviews on their profile but everything seems quite positive so I’m not too sure exactly what’s going on on this case. Anyway, I returned the Parcel, but the seller hasn’t picked it up and it seems like it’s gonna come back to me. I just wondered what happens in this situation? Am I going to be charged to have to keep the bag? Will Vinted just automatically refund me as the seller didn’t pick it up or are there steps that follows this?

If you think it’s a fake, you should have reported it to Vinted as counterfeit instead of ‘significantly not as described’. Vinted don’t allow counterfeit goods to be returned to the seller and they would have just refunded you immediately.

Sounds like you’ve been a bit too nice trying to negotiate with the seller. It’s also entirely possible that they weren't aware themselves that it’s a fake but now they realise and that’s why they’re not collecting it. I’m pretty sure if they don’t collect the return, Vinted will refund you anyway.

Yes you’re right, I should’ve selected counterfeit, but I’m all honestly it didn’t really register to me at the time that it was!
so you think I’ll still get the refund? I really hope so!
