Doom scrolling - do you comment?

And if so, only positive?

I will admit to a bit of random reels scrolling, especially in the middle of the night when it is, weirdly, actually quite a good way to get my insomniac self back off to sleep. That may seem counter-intuative but it seems to work for me.

I hardly ever comment but if I do it is usually positive. Occasionally negative but absolutely never hostile or abusive. Just an "Oh really?" vibe.

Sometimes I get pulled up for this - "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" or "Why didn't you scroll past if you can't say anything nice?".
Do you agree with that?

An example: I once commented about how I didn't want to watch a whole video because Emma Kenny's presenting style was grating on me but was interested in one particular aspect of the story she was giving and could anyone summarise? Well! anyone would have thought I'd suggested Emma Kenny drowned kittens for fun from the replies I got. The outrage! The disgust! And yet this video popped up, I didn't ask for it, I didn't subscribe to it, she was asking for my attention. Isn't it unrealistic to expect it to be only positive?

Perhaps this is an AIBU.

Emma Kenny grates on me as well and I’ve been a true crime fan for years!
