How many wears do your 3-4 year olds get out of their clothes before they're stained?

DC seems to stain things pretty easily as loves arts and crafts.

Her Dad is of the view I should never dress her in clothing which has been stained. I'm of the view she's too young for it to matter, so long as the clothing is clean and unrestrictive (unless for special occasions). The stains are paint stains or stains from playing outside.

What do you think? Do people really buy new clothes for their child after every three or so wears so they always look on point? How much of that goes straight into landfill? Maybe other kids don't get their clothes stained as quickly/often as mine?

My little girl is 3 and a half and doesn’t stain her clothes as regularly now. If it’s a nursery day then I usually put her in older clothes which are stained as I know she’ll enjoy the messy play inside and the mud kitchen outdoors.
If we are going somewhere nice then I usually put something fresh on which hasn’t been stained.
She does have a collection of clothes now that are alright as she’ll want to wear an apron etc if she’s doing messy play at home.

I wouldn’t be going out and buying a new wardrobe after a few wears though!

Stained clothes are absolutely fine to wear in my family. A sign of good fun!

My kids just wear stained clothes as long as they're clean. Not for a special occasion but general day to day they do. Most stains /marks here come out though, they go through the wash and if they marks not out then I pretreat while still wet usually and it goes through the next wash.

I use the Tesco stain remover spray in the pink bottle and that gets out most stains. For stubborn stains I spray then leave overnight before washing. I would let DC wear stained clothes for at home days or muddy days out. I only use washable paint at home though and that has always come out. Because I can usually get stains out any that I can't usually get relegated to nursery wear.
