Most times, when there's a UK terror attack and British citizens are killed going about their daily business, there is outrage and a lot of people posting on social media in their memory. I've noticed none of that for yesterday's attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester. The posts are conspicuous in the absence.
Are people afraid to make comments in memory of Jewish victims in case they are branded as pro-Israel for doing so? (I hope people realise that British Jews and the Israeli government are not the same thing.)
Or do they not care about the deaths because they just Jewish men celebrating some weird festival, rather than young people out eating and drinking in Borough Market, or little girls at a dancing class?
I am not Jewish and do not live in Manchester but I am a bit shocked that these untimely deaths clearly do not feel relevant to my social circle and the local and national businesses that I follow.
