Recommend me a vacuum cleaner for wool carpets please!

Posting in Chat because I don't think it will be seen much in the Housekeeping forum...

Our Miele C2 vacuum has finally packed in and I need a new one ASAP!!

All our carpeted areas are cream wool loop carpet, that type that looks like porridge, so that rules out any vacuum cleaners with a beater bar such as a typical Dyson as it ruins wool carpets.

Hard floors are all laminate. No pets but our house does tend to get dusty quickly, I shed a lot of hair and I have two small kids who seem to be made out of crumbs so I do vacuum most areas daily.

I'm finding it all a minefield when I do my own research. Went to Curry's today to look and left none the wiser plus the salesperson was clueless about looking after wool carpets.

I've heard very mixed reviews on Shark vacuums and cordless vacuums generally. I don't really want another cylinder vacuum but it looks like they are still generally the ones suggested for wool carpets.

I just want a reliable vacuum cleaner that works well, isn't super high maintenance, and will last a long time. None of this 'needs charging and cleaning after every 20 min' nonsense.

Help!!! Any recommendations please.

My wool carpets have always been lovely with my Miele, but the spec isn't as powerful since I bought my last one. Think I would look at GTech next time as my handheld is brilliant.

I think my Miele does a good job on our carpets.

I did like our Miele a lot but the power/suction definitely seemed to decline in the last few months despite regular maintenance. I wouldn't mind getting another if the general consensus is that it's the best for wool!
