Actually scented scented candle recommendations

GorillaGlue · 02/10/2025 10:57

I’ve recently found myself really getting into a good candle, especially as a cosy addition to this weather.

Any recommendations for actually potent scented candles? That leave the room with a nice aroma? The ones I’ve had so far say they’re scented but can burn for a while and I can’t actually smell anything (may be because they’re cheap supermarket candles) so I’m willing to put a little bit of money in for an actual smell!

Thanks! :)

I was given a nice one from M&S! Makes my office room smell like a spa! I use it when I have clients in and my dogs have been farting. Not sure it helps.

Need the laugh emoji for this one!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Will take some time and have a look through, I quite like the idea of the wood burning wick one for a particularly cosy feel 😊

I’ve tried all the candles. All of them. You don’t need to read any other replies (sorry everyone else)

  1. Diptyque. The best. Expensive
  2. Daylesford. However their scents are quite “spring/summer” and only the bergamot one could be considered cosy. Available on Ocado, wait a bit for a sale
  3. Aromaworks. Highly scented, some might say too much
  4. Sand and fog. Cheap from TK Maxx. I bulk buy these, these are my workhorses. I generally have one burning anytime anyone is in the house.
  5. St Eval. Not as pungent but lovely for a small space like a downstairs loo.

This is hilarious 🤣

But thank you so much! I will definitely check these out- you’ve covered all the various contexts as well so thank you! Just had a glance at Diptyque and it may be too pricy for me at the moment but will treat myself to one coming up to Christmas I think :)

I wasn't too fussed about diptique, tbh
Le jardin retrouve candles are amazing and come in beautiful limoge porcelain pots which can be re-used
I use candles from le Jardin retrouve for a treat (their fiffisers sre beautiful, too) and t k maxx and bath and body works for everyday

Same but I’m adding a few more Grin

seven seventeen - reasonable prices and they do one called glowing embers which is lovely

botanical candle company - wait for their Christmas candles, they usually do a set of 3

Less reasonable prices - gilt candle is gorgeous

Bath and Body Works candles from Next

Echobelly · 04/02/2026 14:12

Some of the M&S 'Apothecary' ones are very good. Natural-smelling scents that do fill the space - probably among the better less pricey scented candles you can get

Honestyboxy · 23/03/2026 08:02

I’m reviving this as looking for scented candles that are made of soy wax and non toxic.
