Would you question this with the Opticians?

Start of August I had an eye test at an opticians I have used previously.

It is a small independent opticians. Not a chain. It's expensive but I like their frames and I have a weird eye prescription so ends up a costly transaction.

I had my eye test and spoke about new frames. Tried various on. 3 frames I really liked. I also asked about sunglasses The person helping with frame selection said they'd provide some prescription sunglasses.

I couldn't decide on the frames so we agreed I'd go back after my holiday and decide.

After my holiday I was diagnosed with a serious medical condition and had to have alot of tests/hospital visits. The glasses weren't priority.

I went back early September. Member of staff was abit flippant with me. They are usually OTT (quite a wonderful flamboyant diva usually) - this time very quiet.

They said they didn't recall what frames I'd previously looked at (I had photos but they said this didn't help). I repicked frames.

Sorting out the cost, I asked about the sunglasses. They said I'd have to pay an extra £250 for sunglasses. I said there had been a offer last time to get a pair free . They ignored this, left my comment hanging...so I said I couldn't afford both.

Ordered new frames and lenses.
Collected frames and lenses a week later.

Then last week sorting through post I've pretty much ignored whilst dealing with medical treatment/tests and looming treatment, saw a letter I'd received from them.

Sent in July reminding me to get eyes tested and a flyer saying free sun glasses with perscription lenses until 1st Oct.

Would you pop in and ask for an explanation to why the offer didn't apply to you?

Yes, well, I would go in and ask for it to be applied, not why it didn't apply IYSWIM. Make sure you read any small print on the flyer first though.

Yes I would. You are thinking that the woman was off hand because you took longer than you sad to come back and choose frames. I doubt they are so reliant on one sale! You have no idea - her cat may have dyed, she may just have had an off day. Go in with the flyer (as PP days make sure you read the t&cs - it may be the frames are free not the prescription lenses).
