Red velvet cake recipe?

Has anyone got a good red velvet cake recipe they would recommend? It's for DD's birthday this weekend so I'm planning for a 2 tier 8 inch diameter cake ideally (because that's the size of cake pans I have!).

You absolutely do need to get the professional red gel colour as nothing available at the supermarket will do the trick. Amazon has a good variety.

I cheat and use Auntie Bessie's mix. Did a gorgeous cake a few weeks ago with buttercream.

Yes Betty Crocker. Perfect, moist and delicious every time. You can buy them at every grocery store.

The BBC recipe is the same as Mary Berry's, just larger quantities. The proportions are the same.

I have made red velvet cake from Sally’s Baking addiction several times and very happy with the cake moistness and crumb content. Definetly buy gel red coloring or colorant from the cake decorating aisle of a crafts store not grocery store red food coloring. This recipe calls for cake flour and buttermilk and separation of eggs but just take it step by step and it’s not difficult.

Hummingbird Bakery has an excellent recipe.
