Digital camera recommendation for 7 year old

Poppins2016 · 29/09/2025 19:21

DS is about to turn 7 and would love a digital camera for his birthday (he loves playing with an old camera that belongs to his cousin).

Can anyone recommend an age appropriate (easy to use, robust, but also functional and not disappointing) camera, please?

Honestly i have loads they all survived the children the best ones were sony and samsung the both took a heavy accidental bump and just carried right on i also had a quite flimsy nikon that my kids never broke (they are heavy handed)

Thank you! Sounds as though you'd go for a standard "adult" model rather than child specific, then?

Most definitely the child ones are useless really ds3 had a vtech one the pictures were awful the games were OK but why would you buy a camera to game with! I just got a decent second hand one off Ebay it was great

My DD has the vtech one and likes being able to print pictures. They are rubbish quality but are still a fun momento e.g. she will print one off and give to her friend. The downside to the camera IMO is it's a bit heavier than an adult camera when it ends up in my bag!

DD and DS enjoy playing the games sometimes and adding all the filters on. DD has also filmed things e.g. at the zoo to go into a PowerPoint she wanted to make.

Definitely one made for adults. What is your budget?

Thanks all, that's really helpful.

I had been considering the vTech Kiddizoom, but we'd like to be able to save and print decent quality...

Budget is between £30-£90 (would prefer lower end but would like good value overall, which may mean spending more)!
