I use Ancient and Brave collagen. Only been using it for about ten days so no advice to give. I usually stir it into whatever I am drinking in the morning. Mixes well and has no taste.

Pura collagen powder. I stir it into porridge in the morning and hot chocolate at night.

No biotin sorry so can’t recommend.

Nutrition Geeks. Collagen glow and biotin, I'm coming up to the end of month 3, and in all honesty I do feel better, skins much improved and joints (knees!) not as bad! I have also lost abit of weight and go to the gym 3x a week so that's probably helping too.
there's often deals on their website for 1st time customers

I bought Nutrition Geeks based off posts on here for joint pain specifically. I can't vouch for it as I seem to be in the midst of a good phase of my autoimmune condition, however I take Boots biotin for my useless fingernails and that does work providing I keep taking it.

Bettervits Biotin
Will Powders Collagen (grass fed & cheaper than Ancient & Brave)

DuckWithOneWing · 28/09/2025 20:44

I use MyProtein collagen. I buy it directly from their website but you can also get it at Holland and Barrett and maybe in boots.

HRchatter · 28/09/2025 20:46

I have just ordered from elevate because they claim the vitamin C they include their is vital and they have marine and Boven collagen
Apparently, it takes at least a year for good results so you do have to be patient with it. Make sure you pick one you can afford to maintain.

I get Vitamaze Biotin and I use gold collagen from boots

I’ve been taking Boots Marine Collagen 1000mg for about 3 months because my nails kept splitting and snagging. They are definitely much healthier now and I’m actually cutting them as they grow. My arthritic knees feel better too but I have also lost some weight in the past six months by cutting down on fat and carbs and eating a more nutritional diet and increasing salad, fruit and veg.
I’ve recently purchased some marine collagen tablets from Holland and Barrett because they were half price but that offer is no longer available.
It’s worth shopping around for deals as they are quite expensive.
Havent taken Biotin so can’t help on that sorry!

DottyMcDiet · 28/09/2025 20:59

I’ve just started on NutritionGeeks but only took first dose this morning so too soon for me to comment on its efficacy.

Absolute Collagen and Nutrition Geeks Biotin Plus. Have done for about 4 years!

IsThishmmmmm · 29/09/2025 11:24

Ok I’ll try that one first then
must be decent if you’ve been using that for 4 years

There was an article on the BBC yesterday on how all this is bollocks and you should save your money: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjr5zj12ye1o.amp

And yet, ive been using Nutrition Geeks Collagen and biotin for three months, changed nothing else, and now my nails dont flake or split, and I have grown them long for the first time in years. My hair is in better condition too. No notable difference in my skin, but its in good condition anyway.

Perhaps the placebo effect is to thank for this?

Certainly could be - the placebo effect is very powerful. Also when people take supplements there is evidence to suggest that they subconsciously make healthier choices when it comes to other things that they eat and drink, even if they protest that they don't.

If it works for you and you can afford it then fair enough, I'm really not trying to be goady. But women in particular have so much 'look better, feel better' stuff marketed to them, it's a real problem.

fastingforweightloss · 29/09/2025 12:57

I've been taking Vital Proteins Collagen for 2.5 years. At 20mg a day it was the highest dose I could find. I had very bad skin on my legs, which has completely healed, although maybe that's coincidence? Too scared to stop now, ha ha.

BretonStripe · 29/09/2025 13:06

I've been taking Nutrition Geeks biotin for a year or so (to help with thinning hair and weak nails) and their collagen glow powder for four months or so.

I'm mid forties and trying to be as healthy as possible. I've drastically reduced my alcohol intake this past year. I can afford the supplements and I do think my skin, hair and nails look and feel a bit better. I also take high dose Vitamin B12 drops every morning alongside Vitamin D (for low mood and energy), then take strong iron and Vit C with my evening meal because I'm prone to anaemia.

It doesn't make me superhuman unfortunately, still get ill and can look/feel rough and worn out some days, but I feel worse when I forget my iron for sure.

A few friends recently said I look great and have I lost weight?? Nope, so wondering if it's the collagen and biotin supplements?
