Passport office appointment

My U.K. passport has water damage on some of the pages, including the paper page with my details. The plastic pages are all fine.
I’m due to travel to the US in just over 2 weeks and I’m worried about using it.

I’m thinking about replacing it on the one week fast track service, which requires me attending an appointment at a passport office - but how hard is it to get an appointment? I don’t want to cancel my passport and then find I can’t get an appointment in time. But I can’t check appointment availability unless I cancel the passport first.

Has anyone done this, and found it difficult to book an appointment at short notice?

Dh did it a couple of weeks ago (Glasgow office), had an appointment within 2 days and new passport delivered 3 days after that

For London the 3 day appointment was a week after I booked. I think you need a same day appointment

Sorry, what do you mean by the 3 day appointment? The only service I can use is the 1 week replacement. So I have to cancel my passport, book an appointment, then wait up to a week for the passport to be couriered.

I’d be using the Newport office if that makes a difference

Isn't the US ESTA attached to a specific passport? In which case that could be a bit tight.

Yes, they are, but I’ve done ESTAs several times and they’ve always been approved within a few hours, so I’m not too worried about that
