Can anyone recommend a desk chair that has a soft padded seat?

I'm resigned to it being ugly so perhaps a gaming chair is the way to go?

I bought one for my dc with a bad back. I ended up going for a gaming chair as they seemed to be much better set up to adjust to the body.
I went for
PZDO Office Chair Gaming Chair for Adults, Ergonomic Computer Chairs with Footrest and Wide Seat, Big Tall Fabric Desk Chair, Adjustable Height Office Chairs for Home, Heavy Duty, 350LBS, Deep Grey : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen

In the end and they say it's very comfortable.

i got a u-shaped memory foam cushion that takes pressure off base of spine and it helps a lot.

why does it need to be soft?

GwendolineWindowlene · 25/09/2025 21:22

Thanks. I want it to be soft because the last two I’ve tried feel really hard under my bum and after a while of sitting it’s sore.

That looks fabulously padded, @MargaretThursday. Does it seem good quality?

Only had it a week, but feels good currently.

I work from home and was fed up with my old black, huge, uncomfy office-y looking chair.

I got this, recommended by a friend and it is lovely! Very comfortable!

Thanks @MargaretThursday, good to know. I'd not thought of getting one from Amazon.

That's interesting @Lovesabadboy, is it like sitting on an upholstered dining chair, but on wheels? I feel like I need a softly padded seat much more than I need stuff like a head rest and lots of adjustable features.

Ha! Yes, it is a bit like that!
I agree...I was not interested in a head rest and all that malarkey, just something a bit more comfortable on the derriere!
My office area also merges with my dining room so it is also nice to have something not so huge and clunky on view.
