Sister has no hot water, heater broken can’t afford new ine

Sister is 70 and lives in her bought apartment
About 6 months ago her hot water boiler packed in , she got a gig round who said it was very old and it ran the risk if he took it out he’d never get it to work anyway. He said he could fit new one for around £800 .
Theres no way she can afford that she only get the new pension rate to live off . Has COPD and her Epc is D

I’ve tried every company advertising free boilers etc, but they don’t do Hot Water heater only just gas boilers (she had no gas)
Does anyone know if there is anyone that helps with this ??

He might have been trying to scam her. Get another quote.

So she owns her apartment? Can she get some equity release?

See if the local council does grants.

Have you tried Age Concern, think it might be called Age UK now, they are really helpful, there's an advice line 0800 678 1602, you can Google them too
