Taking paracetamol doesn’t give you autistic babies but voting for Trump definitely gives you a festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul— all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair.

Not really; the army will be fairly able to see how understrength they will be after he chucks out about half their number. And it can't be blamed on a previous administration or an unspecified civilian/alien plot.

logicisall · 30/09/2025 22:07

With some of the batshit policy decisions being made lately, I'm beginning to wonder who's in charge in the US and if Trump is just saying yes to whatever he's told.

logicisall · 30/09/2025 20:54

I had to look up 'stab in the back + hitler' but can see it in the Trump playbook.

I can't credit Trump himself with coming up with this tactic, so who's driving the narrative, Vance?

The brains behind this administration are Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller and chums.

Neither Trump nor Vance have to come up with anything on their own.

They do have their personal angles to work, sure, but anything major and strategic usually comes from the backroom boys – who fight among themselves to be last to speak to the orange toddler.

PerkingFaintly · 30/09/2025 22:11

Sorry, too tired to look back for it now, but wasn't there just a thing floated/announced about having a recruitment drive for the military based on Charlie Kirk fandom?

Out with the old professional army, in with the Great Leader's personal followers?

The Trump shutdown

Serpentstooth · 01/10/2025 10:27

Everything is so insane I can't add anything that makes sense. Please keep it up, stalwart MNers. I'm thankful I don't live in USA and fear for what's coming next for those that do. I've often pondered on what seemed to me a near-miracle of holding USA together with millions agreeing, more or less, to abide by laws and taxes that bind it all together. I never imagined a handful of nutters would willingly throw it away for personal gain. And I wouldn't have believed the American people would just roll over, accept it and beg for more. Sold out- willingly given! - to the snake oil salesmen. Mind-boggling.

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 01/10/2025 11:01

His latest utterance that American cities could be used for military training erm but not any that's run by his mob.
So his mob run cities must surely be crime free.
He's deranged as are his cohort's.

What happened to MAGA nut case General Mike Flynn, by the way? I'm vaguely aware he sort of fell out with Trump bc of QAnon but a lot of MAGA still viewed him as the true leader

Shades of a Trumpian response when politicians are called to answer difficult questions.

Like frogs being boiled slowly, we are overwhelmed and fatigued by the volume of Trump caused WTFs, till we will eventually reach the stage of accepting similar behaviour here.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/sep/30/keir-starmer-labour-conference-pass-revoked

This is really distressing. I can see that OJ is a pain in the arse to them, but this is really not ok. It's particularly distressing watching Labour watch the Democrats imploding in slow motion and seemingly not be able to take any lessons from it.

Back to topic, how are we, as a country*, not in the midst of a frenzy of discussion about Trump's incompetence and obvious mental illness/dementia?

*By which I mean the US

He formed a Right Said Fred tribute act and is doing 6 weeks in Vegas next year when the Magavision Song Contest premieres.

Excuse me, but Right Said Fred were FOREIGN, not American. FOREIGNERS.

So, I don't think so.

The Trump shutdown

If only the lameass Dems could manage to convey that. I listened to Adam Kinzinger the other day saying that the Dems should have been shouting this over and over for weeks - the Republicans control both houses, all of it. It's their freaking shutdown. They had the power to avert this at any time.

Schumer and Jeffries are driving me around the bend.

Grrrrrrr.

Someone posted about Fred Truman and I think there was a misunderstanding.

Don't ask me, I just work here.

Serpentstooth · 01/10/2025 13:14

I agree, logicisall, the temptation to leave the room if OJ is holding forth is strong but banning him? I suspect Labour comms is being run by Reform supporters, what other explanation for such apparent incompetence?

ArmySurplusHamster · 01/10/2025 13:19

Actual incompetence would be my guess.

CaveMum · 01/10/2025 13:21

Thanks for keeping the posts going through this latest round of insanity. I’m a bit out of the loop as I’m away looking after my dad for a few days but I’m keeping up to date on podcasts and trying to read here when I can.

derxa · 25/09/2025 14:13

Are you? Reform haven’t got much to say except deport the boat people. The MPs they do have are a bit odd.

A bit ???

Serpentstooth · 01/10/2025 14:09

Oddness a compulsory requirement. God knows what they could cobble together for their landslide win for the next government. There must be a Reform Government Fantasy League Table of contenders somewhere? Probably in the darkest reaches of Nigel's mind.

Re the lecture to the Generals. He's just visited the UK and seen a high standard of military pomp. We all know how sloppy the big birthday parade was. I wonder if there's any connection and he's had a temper tantrum that someone else does it better?

LlttledrummergirI · 01/10/2025 14:31

Going by his birthday parade, the whole world does it better.

I wonder how they would march in front of a president they actually respect.

logicisall · 01/10/2025 14:32

@countrygirl99 what you suggest is strangely possible to me...

I thought this. Some of the platoons marching by for his birthday looked like they were on a Sunday afternoon ramble.
