Passport validity question

Pretty sure I've got this right but...

Passport was issued in Sept 2016 and has an expiry date of May 2027. With the ten year rule applying I'm assuming it's actually only valid until Sept 2026. If I'm going to a country where the passport has to have 6 months validity left, does that mean it's only valid for travel to those countries until March 2026?

The 6 month rule means you're going outside the EU which probably means that the 10 year rule doesn't apply as I think that's unique to the EU.

If the country is on the Tui passport checker that's very good.
